Since its launch in the market, the Sienna nameplate has always made its manufacturer, Toyota Motors Company proud. It has been a name that can be easily associated with outstanding quality, longevity, and excellent resale value. This minivan that represents the second generation of the production line is designed to meet the specific requirements of different categories of present day customers. The 2008 Toyota Sienna makes a superb start on the usage of hybrid technology on vehicles. There are not many major changes for the current year line-up.
Body Styles
This year, the Sienna nameplate is available in four trim levels -- CE, LE, XLE and XLE Limited. While the CE and LE is designed to accommodate seven or eight passengers, the other trims are only for seven passengers. With the exception of CE the others come in both front-wheel or all-wheel drive. The exterior body comes in beautiful shades of colors like Black, Blue Mirage, Metallic, Desert Sand Mica, Natural White, Salsa Red Pearl, Silver Pine Mica, Silver Shadow Pearl and Slate Metallic.
Exterior Body
The new Sienna is large with a wheelbase that is 5.1 inches. Overall length has been stretched 5.9 inches and it is four inches wider and about two inches taller. The base Sienna CE has 16-inch steel wheels and dual sliding rear doors with power-down windows. The LE has privacy and solar energy-absorbing glass, a roof rack and heated mirrors. In the Sienna XLE, one can find alloy wheels, sunroof, power-sliding rear doors, a power lift gate and automatic headlamps.
Power Under The Hood
For all the models, there is only one engine configuration, the 3.5-liter, V6 engine, 266-horsepower machine that gives 19-mpg in the city and 26-mpg on the highway. This engine is mated with a 5-speed electronically controlled automatic overdrive with intelligence (ECT-i), which is standard on all models. This same engine is also used in this year’s Highlander and Lexus Hybrid SUVs.
Smooth Driving
This is a minivan that performs with extra-smooth idling, increased torque and power, and at the same time gives more fuel efficiency. With the help of 119.3-inch wheelbase, this minivan gets exceptional interior room and a smooth ride. Moreover, the 36.8-foot turning circle is tighter as compared to other mid-sized cars and it makes the Sienna easily maneuverable. With MacPherson strut front suspension with gas-filled shock absorbers and torsion beam rear suspension with coil springs and gas-filled shock absorbers and front and rear stabilizer bars, one gets to enjoy a smooth and comfortable ride.
Overall the 2008 Toyota Sienna has everything to become the favorite amongst consumers, who prefer driving powerful minivans.
